Environmental Achievements and Objectives

As part of our ongoing commitment to the environment, we conduct an annual review of operational processes and site activities in order to identify environmental aspects. The identified environment aspects are then evaluated in order to identity those which could have the greatest impact on the environment.

Environmental targets are then agreed by the Management Team in order to implement suitable environmental programmes with the aim of reducing any impacts where possible.

Review of 2011 Environmental Objectives

Objective

Target

Achievements

Compactor Collection

Improves site waste handling regarding compactor collection process.

Through the allocations of additional resources and improved waste management processes, any waste escaping form the compactor container changeover process has been significantly reduced.

Compressed Air
System Leaks

Reduce the number of compressed air system leaks

To support the business growth and improved equipment maintenance routines an additional full time engineer has been appointed and an improved machinery maintenance schedule established.

Increased Recycling

Recycling of
Polypropylene Sheets

Through the existing recycling schemes it is estimated that we already recycle approximately 98% of our operational manufacturing waste. In order to further reduce landfill waste and increase recycling activities the objective was to recycle the Polypropylene sheets. We are pleased to report that all waste polypropylene sheets are now recycled, thus reducing our landfill waste further.

Noise Reduction from Manufacturing Equipment

Reduce noise levels from manufacturing machinery

Our noise surveys demonstrate that the noise being generated from our manufacturing operations has little impact on the neighbourhood.  However, within the building an objective was set to further reduce the noise levels being emitted from production machinery. We are pleased to report that through the introduction of improved maintenance activities and the further improvement of the safe systems of work, the noise levels within the manufacturing area have been reduced.

Reduce Use of Solvents Inks.

Further reduce the amount of solvents used within the factory

Following the continued environmental commitment, all production printing machines now use solvent free inks. As a result of replacing solvent inks with more environmental friendly inks (water based) substance, this has meant that we no longer use the solvent recycling machine.

2012 Environmental Objectives

Reduction of Water Consumption by 10%

Increase light lux Levels by 50%

Reduce Outside Transport Pollution (engine noise/fumes etc)
